Emerald jewellery is becoming more popular lately. I have to wonder if people are losing their love affair with diamonds with how expensive they are, and because of the lives lost with the blood diamonds. I’ve always loved emeralds because they are just so striking. There really is no other stone so beautiful in my eyes. Set emeralds against 22k gold and it is so stunning it’s hard to look away.
I’ve always liked emeralds better than diamonds, because everyone has diamonds. Everyone wants diamonds, they are everywhere, etc. How boring. Plus diamonds are clear with no color, which is boring. Who wants a boring stone when you can have exotic, bright, stunning green emerald jewellery? There has just been no comparison for me. Plus diamonds are just so ridiculous with all the security, people working for slave wages bringing them up from mines, the bloodshed, etc. I just don’t like it. Also emeralds are rare, they are actually more expensive than diamonds.
Also there are many fake diamonds out there that can actually fool the vast majority of people these days. So if you’ve got some nice diamond earrings, no one may believe you! But no one can fake a real emerald dug up from the ground. There are lab created emeralds but they don’t have the color right, and the created emeralds don’t have any inclusions like natural emeralds. You just can’t create an emerald in the lab. There is nothing like real emerald jewellery.
I love finding the antique emerald jewellery at estate sales because the settings and designs are so unique and unusual. The rings are usually gigantic too. Plus I happen to think that the quality of emeralds is better too. If you go to a jewelry store at the mall, you won’t find many emeralds and if you do they’ll be lab created or a small natural emerald. To find really good emerald jewellery you have to go online or to estate sales or auctions.
What’s really crazy is that there is emerald jewellery on Amazon! I had no idea it had jewelery let alone emeralds, but they actually have some incredible pieces. They have info boxes for each piece that says the carats, whether it’s natural or created, any treatment to the stones, etc. More information than you usually get at the jewelry store.
